Product Description
Part blistering espionage thriller, part riveting police procedural, and part piercing exposé on social injustice, The Girl Who Played with Fire is a masterful, endlessly satisfying novel.
Mikael Blomkvist, crusading publisher of the magazine Millennium, has decided to run a story that will expose an extensive sex trafficking operation. On the eve of its publication, the two reporters responsible for the article are murdered, and the fingerprints found on the murder weapon belong to his friend, the troubled genius hacker Lisbeth Salander. Blomkvist, convinced of Salander’s innocence, plunges into an investigation. Meanwhile, Salander herself is drawn into a murderous game of cat and mouse, which forces her to face her dark past.
From the Paperback edition.Amazon.com Review
Amazon Best of the Month, July 2009: The girl with the dragon tattoo is back. Stieg Larsson’s seething heroine, Lisbeth Salander, once again finds herself paired with journalist Mikael Blomkvist on the trail of a sinister criminal enterprise. Only this time, Lisbeth must return to the darkness of her own past (more specifically, an event coldly known as “All the Evil”) if she is to stay one step ahead–and alive. The Girl Who Played with Fire is a break-out-in-a-cold-sweat thriller that crackles with stunning twists and dismisses any talk of a sophomore slump. Fans of Larsson’s prior work will find even more to love here, and readers who do not find their hearts racing within the first five pages may want to confirm they still have a pulse. Expect healthy doses of murder, betrayal, and deceit, as well as enough espresso drinks to fuel downtown Seattle for months. –Dave Callanan

I haven’t even read this book and I won’t because the predecessor – “The Girl…Tattoo” – was truly junk. The author is obviously totally devoid of stylistic talent and the plot/scenes creak and shudder like a sophmore cliche. Barring a true miracle, the author has not improved after his big ‘success’. My warning: if you have any level of literary taste at all, don’t make my mistake – save your money and time and skip this author!

After plodding through lots of Swedish names and places, I finally gave up and deleted this book from my Kindle. I really didn’t care about any of the characters or what happened to them. I really tried to get into this book, but I felt I was reading a book by the Swedish Chef from the Muppet Show.

I listen to the 1st book, could not stop was enthralled, have been waiting for “The Girl Who Played With Fire.” What a disappointment, the character are charcuteries. The men are evil and or macho threatened by lesos, or nice new age guys thats it, no in between. 1/4 of the book is the names of district or street names in Sweden, boring. The only upside is the guy reading the book is one of the best. Will not be checking Amazon for the one to be published stateside.
