Description
From Emmy® nominees Chuck Lorre (Two and a Half Men, Dharma & Greg, Cybill, Grace Under Fire) & Bill Prady (Dharma & Greg) comes The Big Bang Theory. Leonard (Galecki) and Sheldon (Parsons) are brilliant physicists, the kind of “beautiful minds” that understand how the universe works. But none of that genius helps them interact with people – especially women. All this changes when a free-spirited beauty named Penny (Cuoco) moves in next door. Sheldon, Leonard’s roommate, is quite content spending his nights playing Klingon Boggle with their socially dysfunctional friends, fellow Caltech scientists Howard Wolowitz (Helberg) and Rajesh Koothrappali (Nayyar). Leonard, however, sees in Penny a whole new universe of possibilities … including love.

I absolutely loved the first two seasons of this show and entered this season with a lot of enthusiasm, but I must admit I’ve been a little disappointed with it. I’ve still found some enjoyment from it, but I have some qualms. I’m all for character evolution, but are we to expect that Sheldon would, a the drop of a hat, change his eating schedule so he could have dinner with Penny? The show has practically been built around Sheldon’s crazy idiosyncrasies, and then one of the major ones that has been harped on in the majority of the episodes goes out the window in one scene? Also, Leonard’s character changed in, for me, unpleasant ways while he was with Penny (I hope it will be better now that they are not together). Instead of the kind, innocent guy who was just trying to live outside of his genius physicist stereotype he suddenly got upset and angry far too often for my taste. It just feels like a different show this year. I can only hope the season finale will be a set up for a better season next year.

  2. First of all I have to say that I am a huge fan of this show. However, I also have to say this season (I believe there are 19 episodes at this point, I admit I have missed 2 of them) does not live up to the standard set by the first two 5 star worthy seasons. While Parsons and Galecki continue to provide stellar performances, many of the scenes just feel forced. Its hard to say exactly why, but I think the writers are having trouble finding a groove with the Penny/geek quartet interactions (the core of the show, in my opinion) now that the sexual tension between Penny and Leonard has diminished. Despite this, it is still an enjoyable show to watch, but I now have doubts about its longevity. I truly hope I am proven wrong and the series runs 6+ seasons, as it has given me much enjoyment, but I think the dynamics of the first two seasons need to be recaptured for that to happen.

Love the show. The DVD is great. I didn’t understand some of the synopses which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of five. I like having the whole season to watch my favorite episodes. Can’t wait for this season to be available.

  5. One of the best new shows on TV. The five main characters are all quirky and funny. We enjoy this one as a family and can watch it over and over again. Great writing!
