Product Description
Captured in London at the Hard Rock Calling Festival on June 28, 2009 in HD, the 163-minute film documents 26 tracks of live Springsteen that begin in daylight and progress through a gorgeous sunset into night. Viewers are able to see Springsteen spontaneously directing the E Street Band and shaping the show as it evolves. The set list spans from ‘Born To Run’ era to ‘Working On a Dream’ and includes rare covers such as The Clash’s “London Calling,” Jimmy Cliff’s “Trapped,” The Young Rascals’ “Good Lovin’,” and Eddie Floyd’s “Raise Your Hand.” Springsteen also performs fan favorite “Hard Times (Come Again No More),” written by Stephen Foster in 1854. Brian Fallon from The Gaslight Anthem joins the band as a guest vocalist on Springsteen’s own “No Surrender.” GRAMMY and Emmy Award-winning producer and editor Thom Zimny and director Chris Hilson, both members of Springsteen’s video team dating back over a decade, oversaw the film. Audio was mixed by Bob Clearmountain.

People are writing 5-star reviews for something they’ve never seen or heard, hasn’t been released yet, and basing their comments on whether they liked the tour or not, or the set-list. Unfair. Take them down. (Or, hmmmm, do we work for Jon Landau, perhaps?. . .)

Well, now I’ve seen it, and it still deserves only 1 star. This is bad, bad, bad. The videography is good, but the show sucks. A lot of his usual bombastic stuff with very little of the more subtle, truly musical songs and arrangements. his voice is shot (I’ve always loved raspy voices, so it’s not that– he used to have some real power and shading variance– it’s all gone) and the band doesn’t seem very interested. Yes, they’re all in their 60s, but it may really be time to hang it up. I wondered why this was only being done on DVD, and I now think it’s because it wouldn’t work on CD, on the music alone. Also very odd that Patti Scialfa, whom he thanks in the booklet, is nowhere to be seen or mentioned. I don’t know what his personal situation is in his marriage, and I don’t need to. But it’s just one more thing wrong with this this DVD. Save your money– the recorded versions and other live versions are so much better.

  2. I haven’t seen this Blue Ray disc yet but I’ve seen the set list and the included materials and IT WILL BE AMAZING! Enjoy. Standard 2 DVD disc set or one Blue Ray disc. They’re both available in June. Pounce on it!!

  3. We need to Boss to show up! I’m hoping he’ll donate something from the “London Calling” DVD to help ecosystem and human victims of the Gulf Ecocide.

I am a die-hard Bruce fan since the early eighties beginning with The River. I’ve seen him several times, have all his music and several DVD’s for intimate concerts at home. Well, I recently purchased the DVD promotional set which included the DVD, poster and a T-Shirt. I chose the women’s size medium thinking my 11 yr. granddaugter might like it.

Well, to my surprise, the WOMEN’s SIZE MEDIUM T-SHIRT arrived and fits nicely on my petite 8-year old granddaughter. The reason I write this is because I think 62 yr. old Bruce, who likes to have a lot of control over his image, should not be promoting unhealthy lifestyles for young women so they can wear the WOMEN’s SIZE MEDIUM T-SHIRT, size 00. I’m curious if a toddler could wear a WOMEN’s SIZE EXTRA SMALL T-SHIRT?

Bruce, you owe me on this one!
